TOUCHDOWN A FEW MINUTES AGO: Ben Stiller Calls Pat McAfee ‘Weird’ for Comments About Him, Timothée Chalamet, and Spike Lee at Knicks Game — “Seems a Little Anachronistic or Cliché”
New York, NY –
The heat started when McAfee, during a segment on The Pat McAfee Show, questioned the “usual celebrity suspects” — specifically naming Stiller, Timothée Chalamet, and Spike Lee — for appearing front and center at Madison Square Garden as the Knicks continue their playoff run.
“It’s always the same group,” McAfee joked. “Stiller, Spike, now Timothée Chalamet — it’s like a celebrity starter pack for MSG.”
Stiller, who’s been a vocal and visible Knicks supporter for decades, didn’t let it slide. He took to social media just minutes ago with a sharp response:
“Not sure why it’s weird to support your team,” he posted on X (formerly Twitter). “Some of us have been Knicks fans for life. Mocking that seems a little anachronistic or cliché, no?”
He went on to subtly defend Chalamet and Spike Lee, both of whom have also been longtime Knicks followers, suggesting McAfee’s commentary was out of touch.
The post quickly went viral, with fans on both sides weighing in — some backing Stiller for defending genuine fandom, while others argued McAfee was simply doing what he does best: stir the pot in sports media.
No official reply yet from McAfee, but knowing his reputation, a fiery response may not be far off.
