In a move that has energized fans and boosted expectations for the upcoming season, the Arizona Cardinals have officially welcomed veteran defensive tackle Dalvin Tomlinson to the team. The former Minnesota Vikings standout expressed nothing but enthusiasm as he spoke publicly for the first time since signing with Arizona.

“This is the best news we could hope for,” said Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon. “Dalvin brings a level of experience, leadership, and consistency that every team in this league is looking for.”

Tomlinson, known for his strength, versatility, and football IQ, didn’t waste time making his intentions clear: he’s here to make an impact.

“I’m excited to be in Arizona,” Tomlinson said during a press conference Thursday. “I’ve been watching what this team has been building, and I knew I wanted to be a part of it. I’m eager to contribute to the team’s success in every way possible—on and off the field.”

The 6’3”, 325-pound lineman has been a rock-solid presence on the defensive front since entering the league in 2017. After productive stints with both the New York Giants and Minnesota Vikings, Tomlinson’s arrival is expected to strengthen a Cardinals defense that has been searching for more consistency in the trenches.

A Perfect Fit for the Defensive Scheme

Arizona’s coaching staff believes Tomlinson’s skill set aligns perfectly with their defensive philosophy.

“He’s a scheme-versatile guy,” said defensive coordinator Nick Rallis. “Whether we need him to clog gaps, rush the passer, or take on double teams to free up our linebackers, he does it all. He’s going to be a huge asset.”

Tomlinson’s addition also brings veteran leadership to a relatively young defensive line group. Several younger players, including 2024 draftee Dante Stills, have already mentioned how excited they are to learn from the seasoned pro.

Looking Ahead

The Cardinals, who are coming off a rebuilding season, are looking to make a strong push in 2025. With franchise quarterback Kyler Murray healthy and a handful of key offseason additions, Tomlinson’s signing could be the piece that solidifies their defense.

“This is a team on the rise,” Tomlinson emphasized. “We’ve got talent, hunger, and a fanbase that deserves to see wins. I’m here to do my part, bring leadership, and help this defense become one of the best in the league.”
