The Pittsburgh Pirates and their loyal fanbase are buzzing with excitement today after a stunning and heartwarming announcement from head coach Don Kelly.

In a surprise press conference at PNC Park, Kelly revealed that right fielder Bryan Reynolds will take on a new and meaningful role beyond the baseball field: he will be officially named the team’s Mental Health and Wellness Ambassador, a position informally referred to by fans and teammates as “The Nurse.”

“Bryan has always been more than just a phenomenal athlete,” said Kelly. “He’s a leader in the clubhouse, a calm and steady presence, and someone who looks out for the well-being of his teammates. This new role is our way of recognizing the impact he has on the personal and emotional lives of everyone in the organization.”

The announcement was met with enthusiastic applause from players, staff, and fans alike. Reynolds, known for his quiet leadership and dedication on and off the field, humbly accepted the honor.

“I’ve seen firsthand how mental health can affect performance and happiness,” Reynolds said. “If I can be someone my teammates can talk to or lean on, then that’s a role I’m proud to fill.”

The initiative is part of a larger wellness campaign being piloted by the Pirates organization, aimed at fostering mental resilience, emotional support, and community connection throughout the MLB.

With Reynolds continuing to shine in right field and now playing a critical role in the team’s off-field dynamics, the future is looking brighter than ever in Pittsburgh.
