A wave of optimism has swept through the Magpies’ fanbase today as head coach Craig McRae delivered what many are calling the most energising update of the season. Speaking candidly during a media session at the AIA Centre, McRae revealed the mindset driving Collingwood into the final stretch of the 2025 AFL season — and it’s one that has both players and fans buzzing with belief.

“We’re not just here to compete. We’re here to dominate — to play bold, united footy that makes every Collingwood supporter proud,” McRae declared, his tone confident yet grounded.

The coach, affectionately known as “Fly” among players and fans, emphasised that the team’s recent form — and the resilience they’ve shown amid injury setbacks — is a direct result of a mindset shift that began after Round 15. Since then, the Magpies have tightened their structure, sharpened their pressure game, and reignited the trademark flair that took them to premiership glory in 2023.

“We’re embracing the pressure. We’re not shying away from the big moments — we’re hunting them,” McRae said, his passion echoing through the press room. “Every player knows their role. Every session is an opportunity to grow. And most importantly, we’re staying connected. That’s what wins finals footy.”

McRae’s comments come as the Magpies gear up for a crucial run home, with finals contention well within reach. Currently sitting fifth on the ladder, a top-four finish is still in sight — and with stars like Nick Daicos, Jordan De Goey, and Scott Pendlebury in strong form, the belief inside the club walls is palpable.

Veteran midfielder Steele Sidebottom echoed his coach’s sentiment after training: “Fly’s message is simple but powerful — be brave, play your role, and never back down. It’s what’s gotten us here before, and it’s what’ll get us there again.”

Fans outside the arena responded with excitement, with many describing McRae’s address as “the best news we could hope for” during this critical phase of the season.

Collingwood now prepares for a blockbuster clash this Saturday at the MCG — a matchup that could solidify their finals trajectory. And if Craig McRae’s mindset is anything to go by, the Magpies aren’t just aiming to play in September — they’re preparing to leave their mark on it.
