Former BYU Football standout and rising NFL star Puka Nacua was reportedly involved in a minor airplane accident earlier today while en route to visit his family in Utah.

According to early reports, the private aircraft carrying Nacua and three others encountered unexpected turbulence shortly after takeoff from Los Angeles International Airport. The plane was forced to make an emergency landing at a small regional airport in Nevada.

Officials confirm that the aircraft landed safely and that no major injuries were sustained. Nacua, 24, was treated at the scene for minor bruises and is said to be “doing well and in good spirits,” according to a statement from his agent.

The purpose of Nacua’s trip was to spend time with his family during the NFL offseason. A native of Provo, Utah, Nacua gained national attention for his record-setting rookie season with the Los Angeles Rams, following a breakout collegiate career at BYU.

“He’s grateful to be safe and wants to thank everyone for their prayers and concern,” said his older brother Samson Nacua, who also played for BYU. “Knowing Puka, he’s already talking about getting back to training tomorrow.”

The FAA has launched an investigation into the cause of the turbulence and the pilot’s decision to reroute the flight. Preliminary assessments suggest mechanical malfunction is unlikely, though weather conditions may have played a role.

Fans across social media have already begun flooding Nacua’s accounts with messages of support, celebrating his safety and resilience.

Puka Nacua has not made a public statement at this time, but sources close to the family say he plans to continue his visit home as planned, albeit by car this time.
