NEWS COP: Kellen Moore on Derek Carr
New Orleans, LA — Kellen Moore, the newly appointed head coach of the New Orleans Saints, has expressed strong confidence in the team’s starting quarterback, Derek Carr, as the team prepares for the upcoming NFL season.
In his first public remarks since taking the reins as head coach, Moore addressed the media and made it clear that he feels comfortable and optimistic about working with Carr.
“We really feel good about Derek, and we’re excited to team up with him,” Moore said during a press conference. “Derek has shown time and time again that he has all the tools to be successful in this league. He’s an experienced leader who can make all the throws, and we’re thrilled to have him as our quarterback.”
Carr, who signed a four-year deal with the Saints earlier this offseason, has been the subject of much attention as he enters his first season with the team after spending nine seasons with the Las Vegas Raiders. Moore, who is known for his offensive acumen and his ability to get the best out of his quarterbacks, seems eager to work with Carr’s skill set and leadership style.
“Derek is not just about his physical ability,” Moore continued. “He’s a guy who understands the mental side of the game. His football IQ is off the charts, and he knows how to read defenses and make the right decisions. I’m confident we’ll be able to build a system that plays to his strengths and gets the most out of him.”
The Saints are coming off a season in which they finished with a 7-10 record, missing the playoffs. Carr’s arrival in New Orleans is seen as a major upgrade at the quarterback position, as the team has struggled with consistency at the position in recent years.
Moore, who spent the last few seasons as the offensive coordinator for the Dallas Cowboys, has been praised for his innovative offensive schemes and his ability to develop quarterbacks. His work with Dak Prescott, in particular, is often cited as a key factor in Prescott’s rise to stardom.
Now, with Carr in the fold, Moore will look to replicate that success in New Orleans. The team has a strong supporting cast, including a talented receiving corps and a solid offensive line, but the success of the offense will ultimately depend on how quickly Carr and Moore can develop chemistry and establish a rhythm.
“We’re excited about what we can do together,” Moore said. “It’s going to be a collaborative process. We’ll be leaning on Derek’s experience and his input as we work to put together a system that suits his strengths. Our goal is to put the team in the best position to win, and we feel like Derek can be a huge part of that success.”
As the Saints move forward with Moore and Carr leading the charge, the team’s fans have reason to be excited about the future. With a proven quarterback, a talented head coach, and a team that’s hungry to get back to the playoffs, New Orleans is poised for a strong season in 2025.
