In a major development for South Florida sports fans, the Florida Panthers have officially agreed to a $15.8 million renovation project for their home arena, set to begin in early 2025. After months of negotiation between the team, city officials, and Broward County representatives, the deal was finalized late Monday evening.
The renovation plan will focus on modernizing the Amerant Bank Arena — formerly known as the FLA Live Arena — which has been the Panthers’ home since 1998. According to team officials, the upgrades are part of a broader effort to enhance fan experience, improve energy efficiency, and extend the life of the facility.
“This is a big step forward for the Panthers organization and for our fans,” said Matthew Caldwell, CEO of the Florida Panthers. “We’ve been working closely with our partners to ensure the renovations reflect the growth of our franchise and our commitment to this community.”
What’s Included in the Renovation?
The $15.8 million project will include:
- Upgraded seating and luxury suites
- Enhanced video boards and sound systems
- Modernized concessions and restrooms
- Sustainable lighting and HVAC systems
- Expanded fan zones and interactive technology
Work is expected to begin after the conclusion of the 2024–25 NHL season, with most improvements slated for completion before the puck drops in fall 2025.
Public and Private Contributions
The funding for the renovations will come through a combination of team investment and county support, though exact breakdowns have not yet been disclosed. Broward County officials praised the deal as a “smart investment” that will help retain major events and concerts in addition to supporting the Panthers’ long-term presence in the area.
“The arena isn’t just for hockey — it’s a cultural hub for our region,” said County Commissioner Michael Udine. “These renovations will keep us competitive with other venues across the country.”
Looking Ahead
The Florida Panthers, fresh off a deep playoff run in the 2024 season, are hoping that the upgraded arena will continue to build on growing fan momentum. Ticket demand has surged in recent years, and the organization believes a modern, fan-friendly environment will boost attendance and community engagement.
Construction updates and renderings are expected to be released in the coming weeks.
