In a move no one saw coming, Golden State Warriors icon Stephen Curry held a surprise press conference today at Chase Center to announce that he’s ready to return to professional sports—on one very unusual condition.
“I miss the competition. I miss the crowd. I miss the locker room. But I’ve also fallen deeply in love… with pickleball,” Curry told a stunned group of reporters. “So if the Warriors are willing to trade hardwood for hard paddles, I’m all in.”
The four-time NBA champion and two-time league MVP revealed that during his time away from basketball, he developed a “spiritual connection” to the fast-growing sport of pickleball. Curry says he first picked up a paddle during a charity event last year and was instantly hooked.
“It’s like ping-pong and tennis had a baby—and then I crossed it over and hit a no-look dink shot,” he said, grinning.
Warriors management, while clearly blindsided by the announcement, did not immediately rule it out.
“We’re currently evaluating all options,” said General Manager Mike Dunleavy Jr., who looked visibly confused while holding a paddle for the first time. “Steph is Steph. If he wants to turn Chase Center into the world’s first NBA-sized pickleball court, we kind of have to at least listen.”
Curry also revealed he’s been training in secret with a new “Super Team” of retired athletes, including Serena Williams, Tony Hawk, and surprisingly, former NFL quarterback Tom Brady.
“We call ourselves the ‘Dink Dynasty,’” Curry added. “And we’re ready to dominate.”
Fans are divided. Some are ecstatic at the idea of Curry returning in any form, while others are struggling to process the concept of a full-court pickleball game. Still, ticket sales reportedly surged 300% within hours of the announcement.
NBA commissioner Adam Silver, when asked for comment, simply sighed: “It’s 2025. Honestly, nothing surprises me anymore.”
Whether it’s a joke, a publicity stunt, or the beginning of a new sports revolution, one thing is clear: Steph Curry isn’t done making headlines—or hitting ridiculous shots—anytime soon.
