In a surprising turn of events that has stirred mixed emotions across the Bay Area, ESPN has just reported that former Golden State Warriors head coach Mark Jackson has officially revealed his plans to build a bronze statue in honor of superstar Stephen Curry.

The announcement, made just minutes ago in an exclusive interview, comes at a time when the franchise is already grappling with internal uncertainties and speculation about its future direction.

Jackson, who coached the Warriors from 2011 to 2014 and is widely credited with helping lay the foundation for the team’s modern dynasty, said the statue is meant to “honor the greatest shooter the game has ever seen.”

“Steph changed the game of basketball forever,” Jackson stated. “It’s only right that his legacy is immortalized — not just in the rafters or in record books, but in bronze.”

Construction Timeline & Location

According to sources close to the project, construction on the statue is facing logistical challenges. While Jackson reportedly wanted the statue placed outside the Chase Center, the Warriors organization has yet to officially approve the proposal — sparking speculation about possible tensions between the franchise and its former coach.

Insiders say discussions are ongoing, with alternative locations, including Curry’s hometown of Charlotte and Davidson College, also being considered if negotiations with the Warriors stall.

Fan Reactions & Franchise Concerns

The news has created a wave of reaction online. While fans overwhelmingly support honoring Curry, some within the Warriors organization are reportedly “worried” about the timing of Jackson’s announcement. With uncertainty swirling around the team’s offseason moves and Curry entering the final stretch of his career, the statue news has added to the pressure.

Warriors front office sources declined to comment officially but emphasized that “any honor for Steph must be handled with care, unity, and timing.”
