Five of the Rio Grande Valley’s most promising baseball and softball players lost their lives in a tragic accident, leaving the sports community in shock and grief. Late Saturday night, the young athletes—who were emerging stars in their respective sports—were killed in a plane crash.
Reports state that the players were on a small private plane that crashed soon after departure. Although the reason of the collision is still being looked into by authorities, preliminary results point to the possibility of bad weather.
The victims were prominent members of the local sports community; their names have not yet been made public pending family notifications.
