The Nashville Predators have officially approved a massive $337 million renovation project for Bridgestone Arena, set to begin in early 2025, ESPN has confirmed. The move aims to modernize one of the NHL’s most iconic venues with state-of-the-art facilities, premium fan experiences, and sustainability upgrades.
But behind the celebratory headlines, sources tell ESPN that growing internal tensions may cast a shadow over the project’s rollout.
According to league insiders, friction has reportedly emerged between Head Coach Andrew Brunette and GM Barry Trotz following a separate, unexpected controversy linked to a leaked NBA-related report authored by Trotz himself. The nature of the report — still under wraps — is said to touch on cross-league business ties and decision-making influence at the executive level.
Brunette was caught off-guard when asked about the report during a press conference focused on the arena upgrades.
> “Look, today was supposed to be about the future of this franchise and our fans. I wasn’t prepared to speak on anything beyond that — and honestly, I’m still trying to process it,” Brunette said, visibly unsettled.
Despite the off-ice drama, the renovation plans are moving forward. The project will include:
An expanded concourse and fan zones
A new glass atrium entrance
Upgraded locker rooms and training facilities
Enhanced accessibility and tech-integrated seating options
Construction is expected to span 18–24 months, with phased upgrades designed to minimize disruption during the 2025–26 NHL season.
As the Predators gear up for a new era on the ice and in the building, all eyes will be on how the organization navigates its internal leadership dynam
