In a shocking development, ESPN has confirmed that New York Knicks legend and Hall of Famer Patrick Ewing has been banned indefinitely from all team and game-related activities following a positive test for a banned substance.

Sources close to the situation reveal that the positive result came during a routine league-administered test earlier this month. While the specific substance has not been officially disclosed, league officials have stated it is one “prohibited under the NBA’s anti-doping and integrity policy.”

Ewing, 62, currently holds an advisory role with the Knicks and has been actively involved in mentoring players and representing the organization at league events. The NBA and the Knicks have both issued statements acknowledging the ban, citing the importance of “upholding the integrity of the sport.”

Ewing released a brief statement through his representatives:

“I am aware of the league’s decision and am working closely with medical professionals and the team to fully understand the situation. I have always upheld the highest standards of the game and will cooperate fully during this process.”

More details are expected to emerge as the investigation continues. Ewing’s indefinite suspension marks a rare and unexpected twist in the post-playing career of one of the NBA’s most iconic big men.
