In a breaking development, ESPN has confirmed that Chicago Bears offensive guard Tom Wilson has been banned indefinitely from all team and league activities after testing positive for a banned substance.
League sources told ESPN that the suspension comes as a result of a violation of the NFL’s Policy on Performance-Enhancing Substances. While the specific substance has not been publicly disclosed, the ruling takes effect immediately, leaving the Bears without one of their starting linemen just weeks before training camp.
“We are aware of the league’s decision and are currently gathering more information,” the Bears said in an official statement. “Tom will be away from team activities as this process unfolds.”
Wilson, 27, was a key part of Chicago’s offensive front, starting all 17 games last season and widely seen as a cornerstone in the team’s rebuild under head coach Matt Eberflus. His indefinite suspension casts uncertainty over the line’s stability heading into the 2025 season.
NFL officials have not indicated how long the ban might last or whether Wilson will be eligible to appeal
