NBA Hall of Famer and basketball legend Patrick Ewing has tested positive for COVID-19 and has voluntarily suspended all sporting and public activities, according to a statement released earlier today.

The 11-time NBA All-Star and former New York Knicks center is said to be resting and recovering at home. Sources close to the 62-year-old icon report that his symptoms are mild, and he is following medical advice while in isolation.

Ewing, who previously battled COVID-19 in 2020, had been actively involved in basketball-related events and mentoring roles this summer. His positive diagnosis has prompted event organizers and former teammates to undergo precautionary testing.

“Out of an abundance of caution and commitment to public health, Patrick has decided to step back from all public appearances until he has fully recovered,” the statement read.

This marks a significant reminder that COVID-19 remains a concern, especially among high-profile figures involved in public and sports-related engagements.
