The stunning announcement was made during an emotional press conference at Camp Randall Stadium, where Dayne was joined by university officials, student-athletes, and thousands of cheering Badgers fans.

“This university, this state, and this game gave me everything,” said Dayne, a Heisman Trophy winner and College Football Hall of Famer. “Now it’s my turn to give something back—something that lasts beyond touchdowns and trophies.”

Where the $108 Million Will Go

Dayne’s donation, one of the largest ever by a former college football athlete, will be distributed across three major initiatives:

1. “Dayne’s Pathway Scholars Program”

A massive education fund will provide full scholarships to low-income and first-generation college students across Wisconsin. Special emphasis will be placed on students from historically underserved communities.

“Every student deserves a chance, no matter their zip code,” Dayne said.

2. Hunger Relief Across the Midwest

In partnership with Feeding America and regional food banks, Dayne will allocate millions to expand food access, build school-based food pantries, and support mobile food delivery units in rural and urban food deserts throughout the Midwest.

3. Youth Sports & Leadership Centers

Dayne will also fund the construction of “Dayne Centers” in cities like Milwaukee, Chicago, and Detroit—state-of-the-art facilities providing free youth sports, leadership training, mental health services, and academic tutoring.

National Praise and Emotional Reactions

Social media erupted with praise for Dayne, with former teammates, current NFL stars, coaches, and fans calling the act “heroic,” “life-changing,” and “beyond legendary.”

“Ron Dayne just showed us what a real role model looks like,” tweeted Wisconsin alum and current NFL star Jonathan Taylor.

ESPN anchor Rece Davis remarked: “Ron Dayne won the Heisman with his legs. Now he’s winning hearts with his generosity.”

Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers also issued a public statement, declaring August 1st as “Ron Dayne Day” in recognition of his philanthropic leadership.

A Full-Circle Moment

Ron Dayne, who rushed for over 7,000 yards in his collegiate career and still holds NCAA rushing records, credited his mother, his community, and the University of Wisconsin for keeping him grounded and focused during his rise to stardom.
