In a move that has electrified Ravens Nation, Hall of Fame offensive tackle and Baltimore Ravens legend Jonathan Ogden is officially returning to the franchise — this time as a coach. The team announced today that Ogden will be joining the coaching staff ahead of the 2025 NFL season, marking a monumental homecoming for one of the franchise’s founding pillars.

“This city means everything to me,” Ogden said during the press conference at M&T Bank Stadium. “I bled purple on the field, and now I’m here to help build the next generation of greatness in Baltimore.”

Ogden, a first-ballot Hall of Famer and 11-time Pro Bowler, was the first-ever draft pick by the Ravens in 1996 and helped anchor the offensive line that led the team to its first Super Bowl title in 2001. His return, now in a leadership role, is already being hailed as a potential turning point for a franchise looking to recapture its championship form.

Role on Coaching Staff

Ogden will serve as Senior Offensive Consultant and Offensive Line Development Coach, a new hybrid role that gives him a broad influence over both line play and offensive scheme development. He will work closely with Offensive Coordinator Zach Robinson and Head Coach John Harbaugh.

“We’re bringing back one of the greatest to ever do it,” Harbaugh said. “Jon knows what winning looks like — and more importantly, what it takes to build a winning culture.”

Fan Reaction

Ravens fans erupted on social media following the announcement, with many calling it a “return to the roots” and “the spark this team needs.”

“JO IS BACK?! Let’s goooooo!!! This is our year!” one fan posted on X (formerly Twitter).

Looking Ahead

After a string of playoff disappointments in recent years, the Ravens are looking to turn the corner — and bringing back a franchise icon might just be the catalyst. Ogden’s leadership, combined with rising stars like Lamar Jackson, Zay Flowers, and Roquan Smith, could position Baltimore as a serious contender in 2025.

Whether it’s strategy, mentorship, or simply presence — Jonathan Ogden’s return is more than a headline. It’s a statements.
