In a heartfelt and inspiring move, Phoenix Suns All-Star guard Devin Booker has announced a personal investment of $6.5 million to convert one of his properties in Phoenix into a state-of-the-art shelter for homeless youth.
The project, dubbed “Booker’s House of Hope,” will provide transitional housing, educational support, mental health services, and job training for youth aged 16 to 24 experiencing homelessness. Construction is set to begin this summer, with a projected opening in early 2026.
“I’ve always believed in using my platform for good,” Booker said in a press statement. “These kids deserve stability, support, and a real chance to build a better future. This is just one step toward that goal.”
Booker, known not only for his skill on the court but for his philanthropic efforts, has previously worked with various charities focused on youth and education. This marks his largest solo contribution to date.
Local officials and community leaders have praised the initiative, calling it a “game-changer” for the city’s underserved youth population. Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego commended Booker, saying, “Devin is setting a powerful example of what leadership and compassion look like.”
The shelter will operate in partnership with local non-profits and will include facilities such as a learning center, counseling rooms, and recreational areas.
