Directed by Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Ava DuVernay and produced by SpringHill Company (co-founded by LeBron James), “The UnderDog” traces Brunson’s journey from being a second-round pick and overlooked prospect to becoming the face of the Knicks’ modern resurgence and one of the NBA’s most clutch performers.

Key Highlights of the Documentary Include:

Never-before-seen footage from Brunson’s college days at Villanova

Intimate interviews with teammates, coaches, and family members

A candid look at his move to New York and the pressure of leading a storied franchise

Exclusive access during the Knicks’ 2024 Eastern Conference Finals run

“This is more than just a basketball story — it’s a story about belief, perseverance, and redefining what greatness looks like,” said DuVernay during the official press announcement.

Jalen Brunson, now considered a Knicks legend by fans and analysts alike, said he hopes the film inspires “anyone who’s ever been doubted.”
