 Netflix has just announced the release of “The UnderDog”, a powerful and emotional documentary chronicling the life and legacy of Bart Starr, the iconic Green Bay Packers quarterback and two-time Super Bowl champion.

Slated for release on July 19, 2025, the film dives deep into Starr’s journey from being an overlooked 17th-round draft pick to becoming one of the most respected leaders in NFL history. Directed by Emmy-winning filmmaker Ava DuVernay, “The UnderDog” combines never-before-seen archival footage, intimate interviews with Starr’s family, former teammates, and current NFL stars, along with a rich narrative exploring the resilience and humility that defined Starr’s life on and off the field.

In addition to celebrating his athletic achievements, the documentary also highlights Starr’s humanitarian work and the quiet strength he exhibited during personal tragedies, including the loss of his son and his battle with multiple health issues later in life.
