In a surprising career twist, former Miami Dolphins cornerback Xavien Howard has announced his next move—trading the football field for the kitchen. The four-time Pro Bowler revealed that he has opened his own barbecue restaurant in Knoxville, Tennessee, shocking fans and former teammates alike.
Howard, known for his ball-hawking skills and lockdown coverage, has always been passionate about food, particularly barbecue. After an impressive NFL career, he decided to turn that passion into a full-time business venture. His new restaurant, “Howard’s Smokehouse,” promises to serve some of the best slow-cooked meats and homemade sauces in the region.
“I’ve always loved cooking, especially barbecue,” Howard said in an exclusive interview. “During my playing days, I’d grill for my family and teammates whenever I had the chance. Now, I get to share that love with everyone in Knoxville.”
The restaurant features a menu packed with Southern classics, including smoked brisket, ribs, pulled pork, and signature house-made sides. Howard has also developed his own secret blend of spices and sauces, which he says will set Howard’s Smokehouse apart from the competition.
Fans and former teammates have already expressed excitement about Howard’s new venture. Some former Dolphins players, including current stars, are expected to visit the restaurant soon.
“I never thought I’d go from covering wide receivers to covering a grill,” Howard joked. “But this is my new passion, and I’m all in.”
As the NFL offseason heats up, so does Howard’s smoker. Knoxville food lovers and football fans alike now have a new hotspot to visit—and a former gridiron great to serve up their next meal.
