The Minnesota Vikings are reportedly considering trading their 24th overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft to the New England Patriots. This potential move aims to address the Vikings’ limited draft capital, as they currently hold only four selections—the fewest among all NFL teams.
Pro Football Focus analyst Dalton Wasserman has proposed a trade scenario where the Vikings would send their first-round pick (No. 24) to the Patriots in exchange for New England’s second-round pick (No. 38) and third-round pick (No. 77). This strategy would allow the Vikings to acquire additional selections, thereby enhancing their ability to address multiple roster needs.
The Vikings have several positional needs, including cornerback, interior defensive line, interior offensive line, running back, and possibly safety. By trading down, they could target prospects like East Carolina cornerback Shavon Revel Jr. or Ohio State interior offensive lineman Donovan Jackson with the 38th pick. At the 77th spot, potential targets could include Kentucky defensive tackle Deone Walker or Notre Dame safety Xavier Watts.
This approach aligns with Vikings General Manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah’s previous draft strategies, where he has shown a willingness to trade picks to maximize value and address team needs effectively.
For the Patriots, moving up to the 24th pick would provide an opportunity to address critical roster needs, particularly at offensive tackle. In this scenario, they might target Oregon tackle Josh Conerly to bolster their offensive line.
This potential trade reflects a strategic move by both teams to optimize their draft outcomes based on their respective needs and available assets.
