In a stunning and emotional homecoming, NBA legend Reggie Miller is officially returning to the Indiana Pacers—but this time, not as a player. The Hall of Famer and franchise icon has accepted a senior coaching role with the Pacers, sending a surge of excitement through the team, the city, and basketball fans across the nation.
During a press conference this morning at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, Miller spoke with fire and purpose:
“I’m not here for nostalgia,” Miller said. “I’m here to win. I’ve been watching this team, and I believe we’re on the edge of something special. I’ve come back to help push us over that edge—to lead, to teach, and to bring a championship to Indiana.”
The announcement comes as the Pacers continue to build around a talented young core led by Tyrese Haliburton, Bennedict Mathurin, and others. Miller’s presence adds a new layer of experience, toughness, and championship focus to the locker room.
Pacers GM Chad Buchanan said the decision was “a no-brainer,” citing Miller’s deep knowledge of the game, leadership qualities, and lifelong connection to the franchise.
“Reggie’s voice carries weight—not just here, but across the league,” Buchanan said. “Having him involved in shaping this team’s future is a game-changer.”
Miller played his entire 18-year career with the Pacers, earning five All-Star nods and becoming one of the greatest three-point shooters in NBA history. His fiery battles with the Knicks and his clutch performances in the playoffs remain iconic moments in basketball lore.
Now, as he returns to mentor a new generation, one thing is clear—Indiana is all-in.
