The Philadelphia 76ers are reportedly exploring trade avenues in search of a starting-caliber power forward, and Indiana Pacers forward Obi Toppin has emerged as a potential target in a mock trade scenario that’s generating serious buzz across NBA circles.

Sources close to the situation suggest that the Sixers front office is considering a move to acquire Toppin, who impressed last season in Indiana with his high-energy play, rim-running ability, and improved three-point shooting. With Tobias Harris officially off the Sixers’ books and no clear replacement on the roster, the urgency to fill the power forward gap is becoming critical.

The Proposed Mock Trade (Unconfirmed):

  • Philadelphia 76ers receive: Obi Toppin
  • Indiana Pacers receive: Furkan Korkmaz, 2026 second-round pick, and cash considerations

While this trade hasn’t been finalized—or even formally proposed—league insiders suggest the Sixers are weighing several cost-effective options at the 4-spot, and Toppin fits the mold: a high-upside player still on a manageable contract, who could thrive alongside Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey.

Why Obi Toppin?

At 26, Toppin averaged 12.2 points and 5.1 rebounds in just over 24 minutes per game last season. His athleticism and ability to stretch the floor would complement the Sixers’ current core, particularly in fast-break situations and pick-and-roll actions with Maxey.

More importantly, Toppin’s defensive shortcomings may be masked playing alongside a dominant anchor like Embiid. Philly could offer Toppin the starting role he hasn’t consistently secured in his time with the Knicks and Pacers.

For Indiana — Cap Flexibility and Future Assets

The Pacers, loaded with frontcourt depth after the emergence of Jarace Walker and re-signing of Jalen Smith, may be open to offloading Toppin in exchange for future flexibility. While Korkmaz is unlikely to play a major role, the draft pick and potential cap space could open doors for Indiana as they continue to build around Tyrese Haliburton.
