BREAKING NEWS: Former Knicks All-Star Mark Jackson Just Responds to Rick Pitino’s Endorsement for Head Coaching Job

In a surprise twist to the ongoing New York Knicks head coaching rumors, former All-Star and longtime NBA analyst Mark Jackson has officially responded to Rick Pitino’s public endorsement of him for the Knicks’ head coaching vacancy.

Pitino, currently the head coach at St. John’s and a former Knicks coach himself, recently praised Jackson, saying, “Mark Jackson is New York. He knows the Garden. He understands what it takes to lead this franchise. I can’t think of a better candidate.”

Jackson, a Brooklyn native and former Knicks point guard, didn’t take long to respond. Speaking earlier today, he said:

hi“I’m incredibly humbled by Coach Pitino’s words. Coming from someone who’s not only coached at the highest levels but also understands the unique challenges of this city—it means a lot. I’ve always had a deep love for the Knicks and the fans here. If the opportunity presents itself, I’d be honored to help bring winning basketball back to Madison Square Garden.”

Jackson, who last coached the Golden State Warriors from 2011 to 2014, has been a name repeatedly floated for the Knicks job over the years, with fans often citing his connection to the city, leadership qualities, and his role in building the foundation of the Warriors dynasty.

No official decision has been made by the Knicks’ front office yet, but with influential figures like Pitino backing Jackson, the pressure — and support — seems to be mounting.
