In a bold and compassionate move, Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb has announced a personal investment of $4.3 million to convert abandoned and underutilized properties across Dallas into safe, fully staffed shelters for homeless youth.
The initiative, named “Lamb’s Light”, will focus on creating long-term housing solutions coupled with critical support services including mental health care, job training, and education access for young people between the ages of 14 and 24 who are facing housing insecurity.
“This city has given me so much,” Lamb said during a press conference this morning. “It’s time I give back in a way that lasts. These kids deserve more than a roof—they deserve hope, direction, and a future.”
The first wave of renovations will target six properties in South and East Dallas, areas that have seen rising youth homelessness over the past five years. Each shelter will house up to 20 residents and feature round-the-clock staff, including counselors, social workers, and security personnel. The first home is expected to open by late summer 2025.
Local leaders and nonprofits are applauding Lamb’s efforts. Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson called the move “a game-changer” and “a call to action for others with means and influence.”
CeeDee Lamb is partnering with several organizations, including Promise House and CitySquare, to ensure the homes are not only structurally sound but also embedded within networks of social services that provide lasting impact.
Lamb, a 2020 first-round draft pick and Pro Bowl standout, has been vocal about his desire to use his platform for more than football. With this new initiative, he joins a growing list of NFL players leveraging their wealth and fame to address systemic issues.
Social media erupted with praise following the announcement, with hashtags like #LambsLight and #CeeDeeCares trending across platforms.
As homelessness continues to plague urban centers nationwide, Lamb’s investment could spark similar athlete-led efforts in other cities.
