Forsberg, a cornerstone of the Avalanche’s golden era and widely regarded as one of the greatest two-way forwards in NHL history, will take on a newly created executive role that places him at the helm of hockey operations alongside General Manager Chris MacFarland. A Homecoming Decades in the Making
Drafted 6th overall in the 1991 NHL Draft and acquired by the Quebec Nordiques (later relocated to Colorado), Forsberg became a fan favorite almost immediately upon debuting in the NHL. Known for his uncanny playmaking, physicality, and on-ice IQ, he helped lead the Avalanche to Stanley Cup championships in 1996 and 2001, earning a reputation as one of the most complete players of his era.
He finished his career with 885 points in 708 regular season games, and was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2014.
