In a stunning act of generosity, Dallas Stars defenseman Miro Heiskanen has donated his entire 2024–2025 NHL salary and performance bonuses — totaling approximately $4.6 million — to fund the transformation of three residential properties into shelters for homeless youth.

The 25-year-old NHL All-Star partnered with local non-profits and housing advocates to purchase and renovate the homes, which will provide safe, long-term housing and support services for at-risk youth in the Dallas area. The shelters are expected to open by early fall, each offering room for up to 12 residents along with access to counseling, education programs, and job training.

“I’ve been very fortunate in my life and career,” Heiskanen said in a press release. “I want to give back in a way that creates real change. Every kid deserves a chance to feel safe, to grow, and to have hope for their future.”

The initiative is already drawing national attention, with NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman praising Heiskanen’s actions as “a shining example of leadership and compassion.”

The Dallas Stars organization also released a statement supporting their player: “We are incredibly proud of Miro. His commitment to our community goes far beyond the ice.”

Local leaders and youth advocates say Heiskanen’s investment will have a long-lasting impact. “This could change the trajectory of dozens of lives,” said Tanya Morales, director of Youth Shelter Solutions. “Miro’s not just donating money — he’s creating oppor

tunities.”
