Netflix has officially released “The UnderDog”, the highly anticipated sports documentary chronicling the life and legacy of Georgia Bulldogs icon Herschel Walker. The film, which is now available for streaming worldwide, offers an unfiltered look at one of college football’s most electrifying and controversial figures.

Directed by Emmy-winning filmmaker Ava Green, “The UnderDog” takes viewers through Walker’s meteoric rise from a small-town Georgia high school star to a Heisman Trophy winner and national champion at the University of Georgia, as well as his storied professional career in both the USFL and NFL.

The documentary also dives deep into Walker’s off-the-field journey — touching on his battle with mental health, his political ambitions, and the cultural impact he had on Southern football and American sports as a whole.

Netflix teased the project earlier this year, sparking widespread excitement from sports fans and Bulldogs faithful alike. The release comes just ahead of the 2025 college football season, making it a timely tribute to one of the sport’s most enduring legends.

“This isn’t just a football story — it’s a story about resilience, identity, and the price of fame,” said Green in a statement. “Herschel Walker’s journey is as complex as it is inspiring.”

Early reviews are already calling the film “raw,” “emotionally gripping,” and “a must-watch for any sports fan.”
