In a stunning and unprecedented move, the Chicago Blizzard have made history by signing 16-year-old hockey prodigy Jaxon Reilly, breaking the NHL record for the youngest player to ever sign and play in a professional game.

Announced early this morning, the deal sent shockwaves across the league and social media, as Reilly—still in high school—inked a three-year entry-level contract reportedly worth $3.6 million with performance bonuses. He made his debut hours later in an exhibition game against the Minnesota Norse, registering two assists and a goal in a jaw-dropping first performance.

“This kid isn’t just good—he’s generational,” said Blizzard head coach Mike Kessler in a post-game press conference. “We knew he was talented, but the way he sees the ice and controls the puck at this age… it’s like watching a young Gretzky.”

Reilly, a Chicago native, has been skating since age three and spent the last year tearing through Canada’s junior league with the Toronto Icehawks, drawing attention from scouts across the continent. The NHL granted the Blizzard a rare age exemption under its “exceptional player” clause—a move last used nearly two decades ago.
