The Golden State Warriors have issued an official statement following a brief scare at today’s training session involving star point guard Stephen Curry.
According to team officials, Curry appeared to tweak his right ankle during a shooting drill early in the practice. He was seen wincing slightly after landing awkwardly on a jump shot and was quickly attended to by the team’s medical staff. The 37-year-old veteran left the court under his own power but did not return for the remainder of the session.
Head coach Steve Kerr addressed reporters shortly after practice, downplaying concerns. “Steph felt a little discomfort in his ankle and we made the call to have him sit out the rest of the workout. It’s purely precautionary. At his stage in the career, we don’t take any chances.”
The team’s medical update later confirmed that Curry had experienced “mild soreness” but showed no signs of structural damage. He is listed as day-to-day and will be re-evaluated before the team’s next scrimmage.
Curry has had a history of ankle issues earlier in his career, but has largely stayed healthy in recent seasons. With training camp in full swing and the Warriors looking to bounce back from a disappointing playoff exit last season, all eyes are on the two-time MVP as he leads a revamped roster into the 2025-26 campaign.
Fans took to social media expressing both concern and relief, with “Curry OK” trending on X (formerly Twitter) within an hour of the incident.
As of now, Curry is expected to participate in light individual work tomorrow, with a decision on his full return likely by midweek.
