In a move that sent shockwaves well beyond the gridiron, Dallas Cowboys star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb has inked a blockbuster $32.5 million endorsement deal with sports-drink giant Powerade — and then promptly turned most of it into an act of life-changing generosity.
Sources close to the agreement confirmed Tuesday that Lamb, 26, will front Powerade’s next multiyear campaign, appearing in television spots, digital content and community-fitness activations starting this summer. Yet before the ink on the paperwork had fully dried, the two-time Pro Bowler directed \$25 million of his signing bonus to be split between North Texas Children’s Home and the national nonprofit Kids in Motion, an organization that funds athletic programs for underserved youth across the country.
“I remember what it felt like to be the kid who couldn’t always afford cleats or even a steady place to sleep,” Lamb told reporters, his voice cracking during an emotional press conference at The Star in Frisco. “Football gave me a family and a purpose. If this deal only fattens my bank account, I’ve missed the point.”
Representatives from both charities said the donation is the largest single gift either has ever received. “We’ve got kids who have bounced between foster homes their whole lives,” said Maria Thompson, director of North Texas Children’s Home. “Today they know an NFL superstar sees them, believes in them, and is betting on their future.” The money will finance new dormitories, scholarships, mental-health counseling, and a year-round flag-football league slated to kick off this fall.
Powerade executives insisted they were caught off guard by Lamb’s immediate pledge but embraced it. “CeeDee embodies our ‘Power Through’ message better than any script,” said Ryan McMillan, the brand’s vice president of marketing. “He didn’t just sign a contract — he started a movement.”
Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott called the gesture “vintage CeeDee,” adding, “He’s always the last guy off the practice field and the first to ask how he can help.”
With training camp only weeks away, Lamb downplayed any talk of legacy. “Records fade,” he said, tapping the Powerade logo on his new jersey. “Impact doesn’t.”
