As the NBA offseason heats up, trade discussions between teams are becoming more frequent and intense. One storyline that’s gaining traction involves the Phoenix Suns and Houston Rockets — but not necessarily in the way Houston might have hoped.

According to multiple league sources, the Suns have shown “zero interest” in acquiring Rockets guard Jalen Green during recent trade negotiations. While the two teams have reportedly been engaged in talks surrounding potential roster adjustments, Phoenix appears to have firmly shut the door on Green being a part of any deal.

Jalen Green, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, has had an up-and-down tenure with the Rockets, showing flashes of elite scoring but struggling at times with efficiency and defensive consistency. Despite his potential and youth — Green is still only 23 — the Suns appear unconvinced that he fits their current win-now trajectory centered around stars Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, and Bradley Beal.

The lack of interest from Phoenix creates a dilemma for Houston’s front office. If they intend to move Green as part of a larger trade package — potentially to acquire veteran talent or improve their frontcourt depth — they’ll now need to engage a third team to facilitate the deal.

League insiders suggest that Houston may still be able to find suitors for Green, especially among younger teams in rebuilding phases or those looking to take a gamble on high-upside talent. However, if a three-team trade is necessary, it could delay or complicate any potential transactions the Rockets were hoping to execute quickly.

It’s worth noting that Green has not publicly requested a trade, nor have the Rockets confirmed he’s officially on the block. But with the franchise recently investing heavily in players like Fred VanVleet, Dillon Brooks, and a deep young core, questions have emerged about Green’s long-term fit in Houston.

Expect talks to continue as teams position themselves ahead of the 2025 NBA Draft and free agency period. But for now, one thing is clear — Jalen Green won’t be wearing a Suns jersey anytime soon.
