BREAKING NEWS: Nebraska football loses commitment from 4-star defensive back with….. see more
Nebraska football has suffered a significant setback on the recruiting trail as four-star defensive back Jayden Wallace, a key member of the Cornhuskers’ 2025 class, has decommitted from the program.
Wallace, a 6-foot-1, 185-pound cornerback from Atlanta, Georgia, announced his decision via social media Tuesday night, citing a desire to “re-evaluate [his] options” and be closer to home. The announcement comes just days after Wallace made an unofficial visit to Georgia, fueling speculation that the Bulldogs — long believed to be a major contender — may now be the frontrunner for his services.
“Nebraska has shown me nothing but love and I have great respect for Coach Rhule and his staff,” Wallace wrote. “But after talking with my family, I’ve decided to reopen my recruitment.”
The loss is a tough blow for Nebraska, which had positioned Wallace as a centerpiece of its defensive rebuild under head coach Matt Rhule. Wallace had committed to the Cornhuskers in March and was viewed as a potential early contributor in the secondary thanks to his elite speed, ball skills, and physical play style.
According to 247Sports Composite rankings, Wallace is the No. 17 cornerback in the nation and the No. 142 overall prospect in the 2025 class. His decommitment drops Nebraska’s class ranking from No. 18 to No. 23 nationally.
This marks the second decommitment for Nebraska in the past month, raising concerns about the stability of the current class amid heavy competition from SEC and Big Ten rivals. Wallace’s ties to SEC programs — particularly Georgia, Tennessee, and Florida — have only added to the intrigue surrounding his next move.
While the Huskers are expected to remain in the mix for Wallace, they will now have to compete with some of the nation’s top programs for his signature. His next official visits are reportedly scheduled with Alabama and LSU in early July.
Coach Rhule and his staff are expected to pivot quickly to other defensive back targets, but replacing Wallace’s talent and potential won’t be easy.

ory develops.
