TOUCHDOWN: Jack Beckman Walks Away from Scary NHRA Crash at Epping

Jack Beckman, the 2012 NHRA Funny Car World Champion, survived a harrowing crash during the third round of eliminations at the NHRA New England Nationals in Epping, New Hampshire. Driving the PEAK Antifreeze and Coolant Chevrolet Camaro SS for John Force Racing, Beckman experienced severe tire shake, causing the car to veer across the centerline and slam into the retaining wall. Remarkably, Beckman emerged unscathed from the incident, underscoring the effectiveness of modern safety measures in drag racing.

This crash occurred as Beckman continues to fill in for John Force, who suffered a traumatic brain injury (TBI) in a high-speed crash at the Virginia Nationals on June 23, 2024. Force remains under the care of specialists as he continues his recovery. Beckman, known as “Fast Jack,” has been competing in Force’s place since July 2024 and has secured two victories during this tenure .

Following the Epping crash, Beckman was evaluated and cleared by medical personnel, and he is expected to return to competition. His resilience and the robust safety protocols in place were pivotal in ensuring his well-being during this frightening incident.

As the NHRA season progresses, Beckman’s performance remains crucial for John Force Racing’s championship aspirations. The team continues to support both Beckman and Force, with hopes for a full recovery and eventual return to the track for the legendary driver.
