BREAKING NEWS: New Orleans Saints’ Cam Jordan’s Foundation Celebrates Inaugural Legacy Scholarship Recipients — Full-Tuition Awards Granted to Deserving Graduating Seniors
In a powerful show of commitment to education and community upliftment, New Orleans Saints defensive end Cam Jordan and his God Iz Love Foundation celebrated a milestone moment Tuesday evening with the announcement of the inaugural Legacy Scholarship Program recipients.
The event, held at a community center in the heart of New Orleans, honored a select group of graduating high school seniors who were each awarded full-tuition scholarships to accredited 4-year colleges and universities across the country. The scholarships aim to remove financial barriers for students from underserved communities who have demonstrated academic excellence, leadership, and resilience.
“This is about building futures,” said Cam Jordan, who has played with the Saints since 2011 and is widely recognized not only for his performance on the field but also for his humanitarian work off of it. “These young men and women have worked hard, overcome obstacles, and now they have the opportunity to chase their dreams without the burden of tuition.”
The Legacy Scholarship Program is the latest initiative under Jordan’s God Iz Love Foundation, which focuses on youth empowerment, education access, and social justice. The foundation received hundreds of applications for the scholarship’s first cycle, ultimately selecting students who not only excelled in academics, but also gave back to their communities through service, mentorship, and leadership.
Among the recipients were students headed to schools including Xavier University of Louisiana, LSU, Southern University, Grambling State University, and Dillard University, as well as out-of-state institutions such as Morehouse College, Spelman College, and Howard University.
Arielle Johnson, one of the recipients who will be attending Howard University to study political science, said the scholarship will forever change the trajectory of her life.
“This means my family can breathe. This means I can focus on learning, not loans. I’m so grateful to Cam Jordan and everyone behind this program.”
The Saints star, who has been nominated multiple times for the NFL’s Walter Payton Man of the Year Award, said he intends to grow the scholarship fund in the coming years and hopes it becomes a lasting legacy long after his playing days are over.
“This is just the beginning,” Jordan said. “I want these kids to go out, crush it in college, and come back to lead the next generation. That’s how you build real, generational change.”
The night ended with hugs, tears, and a standing ovation — not for the football star — but for the young scholars now heading into their futures with hope and support behind them.
