In a move that has sparked both surprise and speculation across the NHL, the Chicago Blackhawks have reportedly tapped Jeff Blashill as the leading candidate for their head coaching vacancy. Multiple sources close to the organization indicate that Blashill is expected to be formally announced as head coach within the coming days.

Blashill, 51, last held an NHL head coaching position with the Detroit Red Wings from 2015 to 2022, where he navigated the team through a challenging rebuild. Though his tenure was marked by inconsistency in the standings, many in hockey circles have praised his ability to develop young talent—something the youthful Blackhawks roster will demand as they look to accelerate their rebuild around cornerstone players like Connor Bedard.
