Minnesota Vikings Star Wide Receiver Justin Jefferson Has Been Banned from Basketball Activities by NFL Officials After He Tested Positive for… Excessive Dunking
In a shocking development that’s left fans scratching their heads and sports pundits scrambling for clarity, Minnesota Vikings All-Pro wide receiver Justin Jefferson has officially been banned from all basketball-related activities by NFL officials. The cause? A positive test for excessive dunking and violating the league’s “No Offseason Highlight Reel Dominance” policy.
The announcement came just minutes ago during a hastily arranged press conference where league spokesperson Harold Timmons stated, “While we respect Justin Jefferson’s athleticism and ability to dominate on any playing surface, the NFL has rules about extracurricular excellence. His alley-oop reverse windmill jam over three defenders last night was the final straw.”
Jefferson, who has been known to participate in local pick-up games and offseason charity tournaments, went viral earlier this week after footage surfaced of him casually dunking over a 6’9” semi-pro forward during a YMCA scrimmage.
The league’s newly instated “Keep Football Stars Humble Act” prohibits NFL players from making basketball players look bad in their own sport, citing concerns over “unnecessary crossover humiliation.”
“I didn’t even mean to posterize him,” Jefferson said in a statement. “I was just trying to get a rebound, but my vertical got away from me. I guess I should’ve just laid it in.”
Teammates were quick to defend Jefferson, with quarterback Kirk Cousins tweeting, “Let JJ hoop. He just built different.”
The suspension bars Jefferson from participating in any recreational or competitive basketball events for the next 6 weeks, or until the NFL feels the internet has “calmed down about it.”
When asked what he’ll do in the meantime, Jefferson replied: “Guess I’ll just go back to torching cornerbacks on the field instead.”
