ESPN CONFIRMED: Colorado Avalanche Approves $337 Million Stadium Renovation Project for 2025 and but…see more

In a major development for Colorado sports fans, ESPN has confirmed that the Colorado Avalanche organization has officially approved a $337 million renovation project for Ball Arena, scheduled to begin in 2025. The decision comes after months of internal discussions about modernizing the iconic venue, which also hosts the Denver Nuggets and various entertainment events.

The project will feature major upgrades, including expanded seating, new luxury suites, a state-of-the-art locker room and training facility for the Avalanche, upgraded concession areas, high-tech fan experiences, and improved sustainability measures such as solar panel installations and water recycling systems.

However, there’s a catch — and it’s a big one. Due to the scale of the renovations, parts of Ball Arena will be closed during the construction, meaning the Avalanche may have to relocate some of their home games during the 2025–26 NHL season. Team executives are reportedly exploring temporary solutions, including playing select home games at alternative venues around Colorado.

Avalanche President Joe Sakic expressed excitement about the project but acknowledged the logistical challenges ahead. “This is a bold step forward for our franchise, our fans, and our city. While there will be some short-term inconveniences, the long-term payoff will be a world-class facility that matches the excellence of our team.”
