In an incredible show of generosity and Razorback pride, former Arkansas women’s basketball star Delmonica DeHorney has donated $21 million to her alma mater to help fund the renovation of Bud Walton Arena.
DeHorney, one of the most dominant players in Arkansas women’s basketball history, made the surprise announcement Monday at a special ceremony attended by university officials, current players, and fans. Her gift — the largest ever made by a former women’s athlete at the university — will directly support major upgrades to training facilities, locker rooms, and seating areas, with a focus on creating a world-class environment for both players and fans.
“This university gave me so much — on the court and in life,” DeHorney said in an emotional speech. “I want to give back in a way that ensures the next generation of Razorbacks has the resources, support, and pride to chase their dreams just like I did.”
University Chancellor Charles Robinson praised DeHorney’s commitment, calling her contribution “transformative” and “a historic moment for Arkansas athletics.”
Renovation plans are expected to begin in 2026, with parts of the arena — including a new state-of-the-art player development center — set to be named in DeHorney’s honor.
