Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has opened up about his private discussions with manager Ruben Amorim after receiving a lucrative offer from Al-Hilal during the summer transfer window.
Speaking candidly, Fernandes confirmed that he informed Amorim about the proposal but was quickly reassured that the club had no intention of letting him leave.
“I spoke with the manager and said, ‘Look, this is what I have on the table,’” Fernandes revealed. “I told him if the club wanted me to go, maybe to bring in new players or for financial reasons, I would understand.”
However, Amorim made it clear that Fernandes remained a central figure in his Manchester United project.
“That was not the case,” Fernandes continued. “The club told me they wanted to strengthen the squad, not lose key players. The manager said, ‘No, we want to bring in more players to help you make this team better. We don’t want you to leave — if we bring new players but lose you, we gain nothing.’”
The Portuguese star also noted that his discussions were handled individually and professionally:
“It was a private conversation. I spoke with everyone one at a time — not in a group. It was clear they wanted me to stay.”
Fernandes’ comments will come as a major relief to United fans, many of whom feared he might be tempted by a move to the Saudi Pro League, where several European stars have gone in recent seasons.
With Amorim reinforcing his faith in Fernandes, the United captain remains fully committed to leading the team as they continue their push in the Premier League and beyond.
