In a major recruiting win for Bruce Pearl and the Auburn Tigers, four-star guard Lamar Wilkerson has officially committed to Auburn, choosing the Tigers over strong offers from the Kentucky Wildcats and Ole Miss Rebels.
Wilkerson, a 6-foot-5 combo guard out of Atlanta, Georgia, is ranked among the top 50 prospects in the 2025 class. Known for his explosive first step, smooth jumper, and two-way versatility, Wilkerson had been one of the most sought-after players in the Southeast. His commitment is a huge boost to Auburn’s 2025 recruiting class and solidifies the Tigers as a rising force in the SEC.
“I felt like Auburn was the best fit for me both on and off the court,” Wilkerson said during his announcement on Saturday. “Coach Pearl has a plan for my development, and I really connected with the culture and energy of the program.”
Kentucky had been considered the early favorite, with John Calipari heavily involved in Wilkerson’s recruitment before his departure. Ole Miss also made a strong push, pitching Wilkerson on immediate playing time and a starring role. However, it was Auburn’s consistent presence and vision for his future that ultimately won him over.
Wilkerson’s commitment is expected to have a ripple effect on Auburn’s recruiting efforts, as he becomes a centerpiece of the Tigers’ future backcourt. His combination of size, skill, and leadership makes him a potential impact player from day one on The Plains.
With Wilkerson on board, Auburn continues to build momentum heading into next season. Fans can expect more fireworks as Coach Pearl adds yet another dynamic athlete to his arsenal, positioning the Tigers for a deep tournament run in the near future.
