Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr sent waves through the NBA community this week when he publicly praised one of his own players, calling him a rising star that “everyone in the league should start paying attention to.”

During a post-practice press conference on Tuesday, Kerr didn’t hold back his enthusiasm when asked about the standout performances from his team during the preseason.

Without hesitation, Kerr responded:
“I think everyone in the NBA needs to start noticing [Player’s Name]. What he’s doing right now—on both ends of the floor—is special. It’s the best news we could hope for heading into this season.”

Though Kerr has coached some of the game’s greatest talents—including Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green—he emphasized that this current player is carving out a reputation of his own, not just in Golden State, but across the entire league.

“He’s stepped into a leadership role, he’s competing with confidence, and his work ethic is off the charts. He’s the kind of player who changes the energy in the building the moment he checks in,” Kerr added.

A New Era in the Bay?

While Kerr didn’t go into detail about future rotations or lineups, his comments have fueled speculation that the Warriors may be leaning more heavily on their younger core as they navigate the next phase of the franchise’s evolution.

The player in question—whose breakout performances during the summer league and training camp have already caught the attention of analysts—is now expected to play a major role when the season tips off in October.

A Message to the League

Kerr’s endorsement isn’t just praise—it’s a warning. The Warriors, long considered one of the most dangerous teams in the NBA, may have found their next big name.

Fans are now eagerly awaiting the regular season to see if the buzz translates into game-time dominance. If Kerr’s instincts prove right, the rest of the league may soon be scrambling to adjust.
