ANOTHER VIDEO FROM STEPHEN KING’S HAS BEEN…

Video From Stephen King’s “It” Has Been Viewed

SXSW Conference and Festivals guests were given to a unique experience tonight: a first peek at the teaser trailer and a complete scene from the upcoming Stephen King adaptation of It. Expectations were high, as you would guess, but judging by the audience’s reactions, the video exceeded them.

Skarsgård’s speech as Pennywise was sadly not captured on camera, but what we did witness was incredibly horrifying. As anticipated, we were not allowed to capture anything during the showing of the clip, so this is my recollection of the teaser trailer. I apologise for the prose, but I’m in a hurry to get this up before my next screening, so please pardon me:

Bill Denbrough is shown in the trailer making a paper boat for his younger brother Georgie. The scene then shifts outside, where Georgie is chasing his boat in a downpour as it floats next to the curb. Georgie is knocked down on the ground after running straight into a street barrier, and he watches as his boat sails into a gutter. He rushes to the gutter to see if he can see his boat, but as he looks far down into the sewers, Pennywise appears before the screen goes black.

In the trailer, Bill Denbrough is seen teaching his younger brother Georgie how to make a paper boat. When the action moves outside, Georgie is pursuing his boat as it floats next to the curb in a downpour. After running directly into a street barrier, Georgie is pushed to the ground and sees his boat go into a gutter. Before the screen turns black, Pennywise emerges as he dashes to the gutter to check if he can see his boat. He is looking far down into the sewers.

As is common with trailers, the film then bursts through a series of shots. The most memorable scene from this series of scenes is when blood shoots out of Beverly’s washbasin, but in Muschietti’s film, it shoots out like a geyser and hits her in the face. Additionally, there is a beautiful picture of Pennywise approaching two of the kids (he has them pressed up against a wall), but the frame is such that the only thing visible on the screen are his long, skeletal fingers. Although they are not paying attention, the kids in the background are obviously afraid.
