HEROIC SACRIFICE IN WISCONSIN: 11-YEAR-OLD BOY DIES SAVING 9-MONTH-OLD BABY FROM HOUSE FIRE
Madison, WI – A heartbreaking tragedy with a heroic twist.
Tragic loss of young life.
Eleven-year-old Benjamin “Benny” Thompson died saving 9-month-old baby Olivia Lee from a devastating house fire in rural Dane County.
“The investigation is ongoing, but Benny’s bravery will never be forgotten,” said Wisconsin State Fire Marshal, Brian Bullock.
Quick thinking and selfless act.
Benny rescued Olivia from her crib and shielded her from harm before succumbing to smoke inhalation.
“Benny is a true hero,” said Olivia’s mother, Emily Lee.
Community mourns.
“We are heartbroken, yet inspired by Benny’s ultimate sacrifice,” said Wisconsin Governor, Tony Evers.
A memorial service will be held at the Dane County Coliseum.
Donations in Benny’s memory can be made to the “Wisconsin State Firefighters Memorial Fund.”
