POLICE INVESTIGATE SUSPICIOUS DEATH OF PROTECTED PEREGRINE FALCON

London, UK – Metropolitan Police have launched an investigation after a rare peregrine falcon was found dead in a trap in the City of London.

The bird, named “Luna” by local birdwatchers, was discovered near the Tower of London with its legs caught in an illegal trap.

“We take wildlife crimes very seriously,” said Detective Inspector Emma Taylor. “The killing of this protected species is a disturbing incident.”

The RSPCA and Wildlife Crime Unit are assisting the investigation.

Luna was part of a monitored breeding program and had been tracked by conservationists since hatching.

“The loss of this magnificent creature is devastating,” said Royal Society for the Protection of Birds spokesperson, James Bradley.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the police.
