In a stunning turn of events, San Francisco 49ers star wide receiver Deebo Samuel has been arrested and sentenced to 2 years in prison for identity theft.
According to authorities, Samuel was involved in a scheme to steal and sell personal identification information of several high-profile athletes and celebrities.
“We take cybercrime very seriously,” said a spokesperson for the California Department of Justice. “Samuel’s actions were egregious and violated the trust of his peers.”
