ALARMING: Alabama’s current NFL team screwed over one of their greatest players in school history

A Crimson Tide squad typically wins a championship every other season, so it’s hard to think Alabama’s previous title was earned in 2020.

However, one of the top players from that 2020 team received some very terrible news from his NFL team on Thursday.Three seasons ago, Alabama’s offense was explosive, producing four first-round picks at the offensive skill position of the 2021 NFL Draft. Running back Najee Harris, wide receivers Jaylen Waddle and DeVonta Smith (who won the Heisman Trophy that season), and quarterback Mac Jones were all key members of the offense. Najee Harris was chosen by the Pittsburgh Steelers with the 24th pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. Since most teams won’t take a running back in the first round due to the pass-first nature of the league and the rapid wear and tear of running backs, many ruined the pick. While there are many of players you might select late and who could play a significant role, Harris was so exceptional that it made little sense to take him in the first round.
You have the advantage of having your current team select your fifth-year option if you are selected in the first round. Harris will become a free agency following this season because the Steelers opted on Thursday not to pick up his fifth-year option for 2025.
