REPORT: Alabama Offensive Lineman Arrested For Speeding Over Weekend

After driving recklessly on Friday night, the offensive lineman for the Crimson Tide was pulled over. The Tuscaloosa Thread was the first to report on Alabama offensive lineman Elijah Pritchett’s arrest on Friday night and charge of “Exhibition of Speed,” according to court documents released on Monday. Pritchett faces a maximum punishment of three months in jail, a fine of up to $500, and a maximum six-month suspension from his driver’s license if found guilty. After being held at the Tuscaloosa County Jail, he was released with a $300 bond.

According to the deposition, University of Alabama Police Department officers saw a black Dodge Charger without a license plate driving erratically close to the intersection of University Boulevard and Campus Drive on Friday night at 9:30 p.m. on the Strip.

According to the deposition, Pritchett was allegedly operating the car when he was seen “driving at a high rate of speed across the intersection of Frank Thomas Avenue and 6th Street.”
Pritchett was allegedly driving the Charger when police were able to pull it over in front of Bryant-Denny Stadium at the Walk of Champions. During the previous season, the offensive lineman from Alabama saw rotational duty at left tackle. During spring practice, he was practicing at left tackle with the starting squad, but with Kadyn Proctor back from the transfer portal, his spot is in doubt.
Courtesy of the Alabama Code, “Exhibition of Speed” is a misdemeanor offense that prohibits street racing, speed displays, donuts, and other hazardous driving practices.
