FANS SHOCK: Seahawks Sign Former Jets ‘Iron Man’ Starter for $40 million

The Seattle Seahawks are revamping their team under new head coach Mike MacDonald. While the Seahawks have less than $2 million in cap space, they are not finished making changes.

Tom Pelissero of NFL Network broke the news that Laken Tomlinson would be signing with Seattle. According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, Tomlinson will sign a one-year contract worth up to $4 million.

The Seahawks’ interest in signing the former New York Jets lineman was initially revealed two weeks ago. On April 1, Fowler stated, “The Seahawks have shown interest in Tomlinson,” which drew some attention. While they don’t have a lot of money, improving Seattle’s interior is a major goal. Corbin K. Smith of SI also identified Tomlinson as a “name to watch” for Seattle.

Tomlinson, who signed a three-year, $40 million contract ahead of the 2022 NFL season, became a cap casualty during the team’s restructuring. The Jets saved around $8.1 million by releasing the Pro Bowler.
