BREAKING NEWS: The Steelers are believed to have discussed trade for Tee Higgins.

Higgins and the Bengals have reached an impasse, with Higgins asking a trade last month and the Bengals looking unwilling to move him. The most recent rumor comes from Andrew Fillipponi of 93.7 The Fan in Pittsburgh, who claims the Steelers have had “internal discussions” regarding trade for Higgins.

The Bengals are unlikely to transfer Higgins, and a trade to a division foe has about as little chance of happening as one might imagine. The Bengals would most certainly need an unbelievable offer to trade him to any club, but an AFC North team would most likely have to make a historic deal for the Bengals to even pick up the phone.

Trading for Higgins would require giving up significant draft capital and agreeing to pay him a hefty contract with large amounts of guaranteed money, making any trade hard to succeed.

Of course, in that circumstance, Higgins must pick between playing for nearly $21 million in one year or sitting out the season.

If you want to giggle, close your eyes and imagine what Duke Tobin might say if Pittsburgh phoned about Higgins.
